TANGK is a bona fide pop record in a way we’ve never heard from Idles before, that is, something for everyone to pass around and share, communal anthems intended for overcoming our grievances.

The word – pronounced “tank” with a whiff of the “g” – began as an onomatopoeic reference in-studio for the sound of a guitar tone, but has grown into a sigil for living in love. Joe sings on TANGK in a way we’ve never heard before, completing his transformation from post-punk firebrand into soul singing evangelist. TANGK was co-produced by Nigel Godrich, Kenny Beats, and Idles guitarist Mark Bowen.

Vinyl LP pressing. Originally released in 1992, this is an all-Discharge covers tribute compilation including Extreme Noise Terror, Concrete Sox, Disaster, Raw Noise, the legendary Japanese crusties C.F.U.D.L., among others.

A lot like human sacrifice was an everyday experience for Mesoamerica as a bloody offering to the gods that birthed the world; so too is this an intense testament to the gods that started it all.

You wouldn’t expect anything less than aural warfare with the likes of Extreme Noise Terror who bleed the battery acid from the veins of “No T.V Sketch” and “They Declare It” with their Earache playmates. Concrete Sox do punishing justice to the unholy “This Is To Be,” leaving one unable to move, let alone “Hear Nothing, See Nothing, Say Nothing,” as Nausea reminds the listener of with their rendition of an instant Discharge classic from a decade earlier.

If you’ve never dove into this band, they are the epitome of protopunk perfection, and fans of THE VELVET UNDERGROUND, TELEVISION, as well as truly genre-defying artists like DANIEL JOHNSTON & ROKY ERICKSON and more will dig the heck out of ’em!

Limited edition of 750 individually numbered copies on turquoise coloured 180-gram audiophile vinyl. Born in Natick, Massachusetts, singer, songwriter, and guitarist Jonathan Richman began playing music and writing his own songs in the mid-60s. While in Boston, Richman formed the Modern Lovers, a proto-punk garage rock band. Enter Back In Your Life. While credited to Jonathan and the Modern Lovers (which now included Andy Paley-Brian Wilson, Chris Isaak, NRBQ, John Wesley Harding), the release was Jonathan, accompanied on about half of the material by the Lovers. Featuring the Richman staples, “Abdul And Cleopatra,” “Affection,” and the title track, Back In Your Life signals the ending of his Beserkley tenure, but with much more to come.

POST-PUNK REVIVAL 🔥 WITH A UNIQUE BLEND OF SHOEGAZE & COLDWAVE ON THE TOPOGRAPHIES SOPHOMORE RELEASE WITH INTERIOR SPRING!

Bay Area post-punk outfit Topographies deliver their sophomore LP, Interior Spring, via Dark Entries. Formed in 2018 in San Francisco by Justin Oronos, Jeremie Ruest, and Gray Tolhurst, Topographies link the icy riffs and gloomy atmosphere of early coldwave with the textural depth and warmth of classic shoegaze, emerging with a style that’s both contemporary and timeless. On Interior Spring, Topographies explore themes of guilt, inherited trauma, and recovery. The meaning of it’s title is triplicate: a submerged river carrying hope, an anxiously wound clock, and a season where wildflowers bloom on the graves of the past. While the work of Tolhurst’s father – Laurence Tolhurst from The Cure – provides a clear influence, Topographies expertly channel acts like Asylum Party or The Chameleons on anthemic pearls like “Night Sea” and “Chain of Days”. Tolhurst’s lyrics draw on his own experience in recovery from substance abuse to examine the cycle of use and hopelessness that characterizes addiction. Through these ten songs, the group hopes to present the idea that freedom is not an escape but an embrace of the quotidian beauty of human life.

This marks the inaugural physical media release for the soundtrack, making it a must-have for fans of the cult classic animated series. “Toxic Crusaders,” the animated spin-off of the iconic “Toxic Avenger” film franchise, gained a devoted fan base for it’s irreverent humor, environmental themes, and memorable characters. The soundtrack, until now, has remained a hidden gem, with no previous physical release. Composed by Dennis C. Brown & Larry Brown, the music perfectly complements the show’s quirky and adventurous tone.

And, if you dig DINOSAUR JR, then you’ll love J. Mascis’s solo stuff too! 

What Do We Do Now is the fifth solo studio LP recorded by J Mascis since 1996.

Using his own Bisquiteen Studio in the waning days of the pandemic, J started working on writing a series of tunes on acoustic with a different dynamic than the stuff he creates for Dino.

“When I’m writing for the band,” he says, “I’m always trying to think of doing things Lou and Murph would fit into. Usually, I try to do the solo stuff more simply so I can play it by myself, but I really wanted to add the drums. Once that started, everything else just fell into place. So it ended up sounding a lot more like a band record.” Western Mass local Ken Mauri (of the B52s) plays piano on several tracks, while Toronto musician Matthew “Doc” Dunn’s steel guitar manages to both widen and soften the musical edges of the music, giving it a full classicist profile. What Do We Do Now is the finest set of solo tunes J has yet penned, and the way they’re presented is just about perfect.

Double LP commemorating the 15th anniversary of Wiz Khalifa’s 2008 mixtape, Star Power, Rostrum Records is releasing the mixtape’s first-ever vinyl pressing! The limited-edition package features retro video game inspired artwork and “outer space” vinyl discs, housed in a NES cartridge style die-cut inner sleeve. Also included is a lyrics insert resembling a video game instruction booklet. 

Originally released on September 17, 2008, Star Power is an essential project from Wiz Khalifa’s early career, helping develop his lush sound and establish his reputation as the game’s hardest-working and most talented stoner. Hosted by DJ Deez, the tape features multiple guest appearances from Wiz’s close associate Chevy Woods, then known as Kev Da Hustla, and production sculpted at the legendary I.D. Labs by Pittsburgh natives like Sledgren, E. Dan, Johnny Juliano, Rocky Fontaine, and Big Jerm. Spanning 23 tracks, Star Power exhibits the melodic mastery and strong songwriting that soon made Wiz Khalifa a superstar, acting as a crucial stepping stone from Pittsburgh prominence to worldwide recognition.
