This Week’s Highlights at Third Eye Comics for Wednesday 4/23/14

ORIGINAL SIN OFFICIALLY BEGINS THIS WEDNESDAY WITH ORIGINAL SIN #0!
DO NOT MISS THIS CRUCIAL PROLOGUE TO THE HUGE MARVEL SUMMER EVENT THAT WILL CHANGE THE MARVEL LANDSCAPE FOR 2014!
We are totally amped for the upcoming Marvel summer event, ORIGINAL SIN, and all of the amazing stuff that’s going to be rolling out of it.
With a vibe and feel that’s very similar to one of our favorite DC Comics stories of all times: IDENTITY CRISIS, ORIGINAL SIN looks to be one of the coolest things to hit the Marvel Universe in quite some time, and with the prologue arriving in this week’s issue #0 — we could not be more stoked.
Want to get the full scoop on what ORIGINAL SIN is, and why you need to be on board with this incredible series? In a nut shell, ORIGINAL SIN is a story that’s been brewing for quite some time, as we watch as the omnipotent being THE WATCHER has been murdered, due to something he saw that would change the entirety of the Marvel Universe as we know it.
And, even more strange, when the Watcher’s body is found, his eyes are gone, the eyes that have literally seen every possible multiverse of the Marvel U that you can think of.
Decades of every secret, every hidden thing, that he’s seen is now up for grabs, and we cannot wait to see how it all plays out.
In this week’s ORIGINAL SIN #0, we ask the question: WHO IS THE WATCHER? That’s what Nova is wondering after his latest brush with the moon-dwelling enigma he’s encountered before.. but, what he discovers will have a profound effect on the young hero, as well as priming the pump for the most cataclysmic event in Marvel history.

JUSTICE LEAGUE UNITED #0 DEBUTS THIS WEDNESDAY, BEGINNING ONE OF THE MOST EXCITING NEW ONGOING DC NEW 52 TITLES OF THE SUMMER!
From critically acclaimed ANIMAL MAN and SWEET TOOTH writer JEFF LEMIRE!
We are so pumped for the new JUSTICE LEAGUE UNITED series from Jeff Lemire — I know it’s a weird line-up, I know it’s a strange idea, but hot damn: the first issue of this book was so. freaking. cool!
Based out of Canada, and offering the concept that the Justice League extends beyond the borders of America, the Justice League United, is a new series that follows alongside the ending events of the red-hot FOREVER EVIL storyline.
Featuring an incredible line-up that consists of certifiably cool DCU characters like Animal Man, Adam Strange, Martian Manhunter, Hawkman, Supergirl, Green Arrow, Star-Girl, and the brand new character, Equinox, this Canadian-based team of DCU icons looks to be channeling the energy and fun of DC’s cutting edge and iconic Justice League series from Keith Giffen and Kevin Maguire blended with the bombastic bigger-than-life energy of Grant Morrison’s JLA from the ‘0s.
Lemire is one heck of a talented writer, and he’s proven that he can really build a mythology around a character, with his work on Animal Man, and other series — so we cannot wait to see what he does with this stellar line-up.

MARVEL NOW WAVE 2: ELEKTRA #1 — The iconic assassin returns this Wednesday, featuring incredible artwork by Michael Del Mundo!

A life spent in silent pain has led Elektra to the precipice of despair.
As she prepares to shed her past, and take her next step, everything you know about her will change!
Death is noe scape, but she will find her way as a new option opens up that will take Elektra to places no other Marvel character can go.
The art in this one is so freakin’ good — and the storytelling was high caliber to match!

Folks: we can’t deny it — we loved 24 when it first came around, and we’re pretty stoked to see it returning; so are we pumped for this stellar looking new IDW series?

SCOTT SNYDER’S BATMAN ETERNAL CONTINUES WITH THIS WEDNESDAY’S BATMAN ETERNAL #3 — DO NOT SLEEP ON THIS MUST-READ, WEEKLY BATMAN SERIES SETTING UP ALL THE MAJOR BAT-STORIES FOR 2014 & 2015!
So, you guys know — we love Snyder’s work on BATMAN, with iconic stories like BATMAN COURT OF OWLS, BATMAN CITY OF OWLS, BATMAN DEATH OF THE FAMILY, and of course, BATMAN THE BLACK MIRROR.
So, then our love of his new weekly series, BATMAN ETERNAL, is no surprise, right?
And, folks, it is so good — so so so good — we’re totally amped on this, and are getting flashbacks for the awesomeness that was the weekly series “52.”
In this week’s BATMAN ETERNAL #3, a gang war has erupted in Gotham, and Batman’s on his own to stop it — but, what about the G.CP.D? Why are they not getting involved?
Oh, and you know fan-favorite character, Stephanie Brown, aka Batgirl aka Spoiler?

BRAND NEW ONI PRESS INDIE SENSATION THE BUNKER CONTINUES TO IMPRESS THE HECK OUT OF US WITH THIS WEEK’S THE BUNKER #3
We’re totally hooked on the new ONI PRESS (HELHEIM, SIXTH GUN) series THE BUNKER, which delivers a very eerie blend of science fiction and horror, and does so very well.
In issue #3, Heidi goes through her journey to find the uncle who abused her, and must decide between revenge and justice.
What she learns about herself forces her down the path her friends are already walking — and she knows that she has to help them change the future.
What’s the Bunker about? When five friends go to bury a time capsule before going their separate ways they find a mysterious bunker stamped with their names and containing artifacts from a time that has yet to come.
Will their discovery save the world… or doom it? That’s the question THE BUNKER asks.
We’ve got issues 1 & 2 in stock now to catch you up to this week’s #3.

DAREDEVIL #2 — THE SECOND ISSUE OF MARK WAID’S CRITICALLY ACCLAIMED AND TOTALLY INCREDIBLE DAREDEVIL SERIES ARRIVES THIS WEEK!
We’ve raved and raved about how great Mark Waid’s DAREDEVIL is, and now is your chance to get on board, and find out why with the new MARVEL NOW Wave 2 DD series.
This week’s DAREDEVIL #2 shows us a DD that’s in over his head in his new hometown, which isn’t at all as he remembers it.
With new threats, new obstacles — and a long forgotten Marvel hero stepping from the shadows — ol’ Matt Murdock is not feeling very welcome in his new home of San Francisco.
We’re loving the new direction for the title, as he learns his way in the city of San Francisco.
Wanna get on board? We’ve got issue 1 in stock now to catch you up to this week’s issue #2.

HOW CAN YOU SAY NO TO DUFFMAN ADVENTURES #1?
Folks: we love The Simpsons here at Third Eye, and we really dig all the cool stuff that Bongo has done over the years with the Simpsons comics. Heck, the comics are actually better than some of the more recent seasons, in our opinion.
This week, Bongo drops another of their one-shot wonders with DUFFMAN ADVENTURES #1.
Can Springfield’s most one-dimensional and undeveloped character handle a full story? OH YEAH.

SECRET ORIGINS VOL.4 #1 — A brand new ongoing series from DC, exploring the NEW 52 Origins of the DCU’s biggest icons, and most beloved fan-favorites!
At last, the Secret Origins of the World’s Greatest Heroes in the New 52 can be revealed!
This new series features all-star talents exploring the origins of various DCU characters in each issue.
With issue #1, we’re shown the origins of Kara Zor-El aka SUPERGIRL, and the very first Robin, DICK GRAYSON.
We really dug the first issue, and definitely recommend it if you’re a big DCU fan, and are looking for crucial back stories on your favorite characters.

Wow — what a storyline ALL OUT WAR has been, as we’ve seen some incredible development of many central WALKING DEAD characters.. and some very shocking moments, to be sure.
In this week’s issue #126 — it all comes to an end, as ALL OUT WAR concludes, and who knows where the road will take us going forward.

THIRD EYE FAVORITE, EVAN DORKIN (Milk & Cheese, Dork, Beasts of Burden) returns with his satire of fandom in THE ELTINGVILLE CLUB #1!
A MUST-READ!
After twenty years, three Eisner Awards, and a smattering of hate mail, the Eltingville Comic Book, Science Fiction, Fantasy, Horror and Role-Playing Club is finally breaking up.
When Bill’s dream job in a comic shop turns into a nightmare for the club, more than bridges and membership cards are burned in a fiery fantastic finale.
Originally appearing in the pages of Dorkin’s DORK anthology (one of my personal favorite comics of all-time), the Eltingville Club was always a hilarious take on fandom with a bit of a mean-streak that makes it so darn unique.
We’re totally pumped for this week’s ELTINGVILLE one-shot, and highly recommend you scoop up a copy and give it a read. We promise: you will laugh your ass off.

PRELUDE TO DOOMED CONTINUES WITH SUPERMAN #30, AS THE RETURN OF DOOMSDAY KICKS INTO HIGH GEAR!
We’re so amped for this big DOOMSDAY storyline, and each prelude chapter just gets us more and more excited!
This week, every man, woman and child in Smallville has suddenly fallen into a coma while the citizens of the Bottled City of Kandor begin to rise again.
Meanwhile, Superman has his hands full as Doomsday cuts a swath of destruction through the heart of the Earth itself!
Wanna get caught up? We’ve got the previous installments, SUPERMAN WONDER WOMAN #7 and ACTION COMICS #30, in stock now to get you all caught up.

SOVEREIGN #2 DELIVERS EPIC FANTASY ON THE SCALE OF LORD OF THE RINGS OR GAME OF THRONES, WITH AN ART STYLE THAT’S TOTALLY IMMERSIVE!
A MUST FOR FANS OF PAUL POPE, AND THOSE EPIC ’70s RALPH BAKSHI ANIMATED FEATURES LIKE “THE HOBBIT” & “FIRE & ICE”
SOVEREIGN has us hooked, with it’s completely immersive, and engrossing storytelling and artwork, so we’re obviously pumped for this week’s issue #2.
In SOVEREIGN #2, an emperor lays dead, with no successor named for his vacated throne.
Visitors form a distant land discover that there is more in the world than their philosophies know.
And, three masked outcasts come bearing word of a coming apocalypse….
So… freakin’.. cool!
If you’re looking for the answer to Lord of the Rings in the form of a comic book, then SOVEREIGN is the book you want to be reading.
Wanna get into it? We’ve got issues 1 in stock now to catch you up to this week’s issue #2.

ZERO #7 — One of our favorite IMAGE titles continues to impress, with this week’s ZERO #7. One of the best new comics to debut in 2013!
ZERO is by far one of the most compelling and interesting books to debut in the last year or so, and we’re really looking forward to seeing how it continues in this week’s issue #7.
What’s it all about? What happens when one of the deadliest special agents learns over the course of each mission he’s done that the Agency he works for… is not as noble, as he once believed? What if you learned that everything you put in for wasn’t saving the world, but instead bringing it down around you?
This is the world of Edward Zero, and it’s downright addictive.
With each issue serving as a one-shot issue that stands on it’s own, but forms into a bigger narrative, ZERO delivers a cover to cover read that grabs the reader and does not let go until the series concludes.
In issue #7, Zero and Zizek come to a place fifty-six miles away from Juarez, Mexico.
There is business to be made in human misery, as they both soon discovery.
Wanna get into it? We recommend starting with the first trade paperback, collecting issues 1-5 for only $9.99, and then we can catch you up with issue #6.
