UNCANNY X-MEN #1 is ushering in an all new era for Marvel’s merry mutants, and we CANNOT wait, Third Eye Faithful!
It’s been a long time since we’ve seen a line-up this classic, and issue #1 of the newly launching flagship X-MEN series delivers everything you could want and then some. Seriously: you can practically feel the same kind of raw comic book energy that surrounded past classic launches like Chris Claremont & Jim Lee’s iconic ’90s run, Grant Morrison’s ground-breaking NEW X-MEN, and one of our faves: Joss Whedon’s ASTONISHING X-MEN.
We’re so pumped about UNCANNY X-MEN #1 that we’ve put together a ton of fun stuff to help kick off its launch, including a very special double-trouble Third Eye signing tour with writers MATTHEW ROSENBERG & ED BRISSON signing UXM #1 at Third Eye Richmond and of course, the Third Eye Mothership in Annapolis on Saturday 11/17/18 for LOCAL COMIC SHOP DAY!
The the flagship X-Men series that started it all is back and better than ever!
Starting with a mysterious and tragic disappearance, the X-Men are drawn into what might be…their final adventure?!
Get ready, Third Eye Faithful: just like Bendis reinvented how we saw the AVENGERS in AVENGERS DISASSEMBLED, Rosenberg & Brisson will be doing the same in a story arc that could only be titled: X-MEN DISASSAMBLED, and it all begins in UNCANNY X-MEN #1 on 11/14/18!
In this special 80-page giant of a comic, we’re given one of the raddest X-MEN team rosters we’ve seen in a minute, with BISHOP, NIGHTCRAWLER, STORM, JEAN GREY, CANNONBALL, X-23, JUBILEE & PSYLOCKE all taking center-stage!
With a writing team that pairs up rising stars ED BRISSON (OLD MAN LOGAN) and MATTHEW ROSENBERG (PHOENIX RESURRECTION) — this book is going to be sharp as all get out, and we’re telling you right now: get ready for one of the best X-MEN runs you’ve seen in a minute!
With a landmark this big, Marvel has put together a slate of gorgeous alternate covers to help you celebrate the iconic launch of UNCANNY X-MEN #1 in style!

With this series set to be one of the biggest things to hit this Winter — we had to do something special to celebrate, and with the book coming out mere days prior to LOCAL COMIC SHOP DAY, we decided to post-pone our UNCANNY X-MEN #1 launch party on Wednesday… and have it on LOCAL COMIC SHOP DAY instead!
We’re super stoked to be hosting both Ed & Matt as the two have worked on a TON of awesome projects in the past (which you can also scoop and get signed!)!
What are some of our favorites by these guys that you should check out?
1st off, Matthew Rosenberg’s 4 KIDS WALK INTO A BANK is a must-read!
This killer series from WE CAN NEVER GO HOME writer MATTHEW ROSENBERG and LAZARUS inker TYLER BOSS delivers the tale of 11-year old Paige and her weirdo friends who have a pretty big problem: a gang of ex-cons that need her dad’s help on a heist… the problem is those ex-cons are total morons.
If Paige wants to keep her dad out of trouble, she’s going to have to pull of the heist herself.
Imagine if Wes Anderson remade Reservoir Dogs, 4KWIAB is a darkly humorous story about friendship, growing up, Dungeons & Dragons, puking, grand larceny and family.
Trust us, it’s awesome, and you need it in your life. We’ll have plenty of copies in stock at the signing for you to scoop!
Secondly, you gotta check out the epic run that Ed has had on OLD MAN LOGAN, which began with OLD MAN LOGAN #25 (or if you’re doing trade paperbacks, OLD MAN LOGAN VOL.6), which takes OLD MAN LOGAN back into the nightmarish future he originated in, and begins tracking down the Hulk Gang.
From there, we’re taken into what is easily one of the coolest WOLVERINE runs we’ve read in a while, and we’ve got all the issues #25 – #50, as well as all the graphic novels, in stock to get you up to speed on it!
In PHOENIX RESURRECTION, when strange events start happening all over the world, the X-Men can only come to one conclusion: the one, true Jean Grey is back! Kitty Pryde, Old Man Logan and Cyclops lead squads across the globe, chasing events connected to the Phoenix – yet with friends disappearing and familiar enemies returning, they’re fighting a losing battle.
Meanwhile, a young woman named Jean starts to go insane in her peaceful, suburban life. Nightmares and daydreams spill over into the world and reveal cracks in her reality. Jean needs to escape. The X-Men need to stop the cycle of death the Phoenix brings. And their worlds are about to collide – violently! We’ll have plenty of the graphic novel of this one in stock to hook you up!
One of our favorites by Ed is his killer IMAGE COMICS series SHELTERED, which puts a very scary look at the post-apocalyptic genre.. by spinning it on its head, and telling a PRE-APOCALYPSE tale of terror!
In SHELTERED, the men and women of Safe Haven have been preparing for any-and-all end of world scenarios for years.
However, their bunkers, weapons and training can’t save them from the one threat they never could have expected: their own children.
We’ll have all the SHELTERED trade paperbacks in stock to get you hooked up on this killer read!
Another big favorite from Rosenberg is WE CAN NEVER GO HOME, which was kind of our first time stopping and saying: hey this guy should write X-MEN, ’cause teenage misfits with superhuman abilities are done so darn well in this book!
WE CAN NEVER GO HOME is the story of two teenagers, a mixtape, a stolen car, a fully loaded .45, strange abilities, dead drug dealers, and their money. A dark and modern story about getting lost and finding yourself on the backroads of America.
When we saw Brisson was involved with UNCANNY X-MEN, we knew it was gonna be rad, because he’d already blew our minds with some killer X-MEN storytelling in his outstanding CABLE run which began in issue #150.
In Brisson’s CABLE, Cable has made it his one-man mission to preserve all of time itself. But when a disturbance in the timestream sends him back to the recent past, he finds a mutant killer he won’t be able to handle alone. Nathan has led teams of X-Men before – but none like this. Get ready for…the Newer Mutants! Longshot! Shatterstar! X-23! Armor! Blink! Doop!
But what makes these heroes so uniquely qualified to answer the call? As an unknown enemy targets members of the ancient group known as the Externals, Cable’s crew is on the case – and their investigation leads straight to the vampiric Selene!
But while the Externals are dying one by one, a familiar face from their number is back – but can Gideon’s return be in any way welcome?
In this killer back to bascis spin on the Punisher, Punisher no longer has the War Machine armor, but he retained his newly acquired taste for big game, and he’s hungry for more.
However, the paths to such perilous pursuits are fraught with dangers bigger than any Frank has faced before, and this lone wolf could use otherworldly help on his way up to the world stage.
We’ll have plenty of copies of all the issues of Matt’s Punisher run out so far in stock for you to check out!
These are just a few of the killer projects these guys have worked on — and we’ll have their table loaded up so you can check ’em out!
