Get ready, because 5/15/20 — all Third Eye locations are re-opening for SAFE in-store shopping and more! Find out all the details! ALL LOCATIONS ARE ALLOWING LIMITED CAPACITY BASED ON LOCAL CITY, COUNTY OR STATE GUIDELINES!

Third Eye Faithful, we’re absolutely stoked to bring you some of the very best news we’ve ever had: our stores are once again open for you to come on in, and enjoy.

With the recent announcements from the governors of Maryland and Virginia along with an incredible decision by the Mayor of Annapolis, we’re lucky enough to be able to open all of the Third Eyes up for you to come on in, and visit once again.

But, please, take note: there are a few things that we’ve had to put in place in compliance with our state governments to make this possible.

Read on for more details on that below!

First and most importantly: ALL Third Eyes are OPEN for IN-STORE SHOPPING!!

That’s right: you can come in, and browse just like the pre-COVID days! Please note: we’ve taken some precautions to help make the experience safe for all, but good news: in-store shopping!

We do have to keep a limit on how many people are able to be in the store, so please don’t take offense if we let you know we’ve reached our capacity and request that you wait outside.

Store Hours for each Third Eye

With COVID-19, we had to make some restrictions on our store hours, and that definitely made things a tad weird. Beginning Saturday 5/16/20, here’s our new hours for each location:

Real Heroes Wear Masks

Just like your favorite DC and Marvel icons, it’s time to don a mask, and Third Eye Faithful, one of our temporary requirements at our stores is for you to wear a mask.

ENHANCED CLEANING & SANITATION POLICIES

We had already instituted these prior to the COVID-19 outbreaks, but we’re currently increasing all of our policies, and are in the process of implementing:

  • Deep cleans of all stores by an outside vendor specializing in commercial deep cleans.
  • Disinfecting of high-touch surfaces (door knobs, back issue drawer handles, counter area, faucets in bathrooms, etc.) throughout the day.
  • Overnight UVC light sterilization procedures for the sales floors of each store. (COMING SOON)
  • Enhanced daily general cleaning procedures for each store (we were already pretty darn clean, but now — even more so!)
  • Installation of public hand sanitizer stations, touchless paper towel dispensers, touchless soap dispensers, and more.
  • Installation of plexiglass sneeze guards at all cash registers. (COMING SOON)

EMPLOYEE HEALTH PROCEDURES TO ENSURE YOUR SAFETY & THEIRS

We’ve also introduced some policies in our stores to help ensure the safety of all visitors to our stores, staff and customer alike.

  • Touchless infrared thermometer temperature checks at the start of an employee’s shift with the employee’s consent.
  • Masks provided by Third Eye for all employees.
  • Paid sick leave for ALL employees, part-time and full-time.
  • Installation of public hand sanitizer stations, touchless paper towel dispensers, touchless soap dispensers, and more.

NEW STORE FEATURES TO HELP YOU SHOP SAFE & BROWSE OUR STORE LIKE NORMAL! 🙂

  • Installation of plexiglass sneeze guards at all cash registers. (COMING SOON)
  • Floor decals to encourage proper distance between customers.
  • Enhancing the touchless nature of transactions with new systems to encourage touchlessness (i.e no need to sign via iPad for credit card changes, no need to key in email address for Belly points, etc.)
  • Face masks for our staff.
  • Enhanced ventilation throughout the day to help prevent stale air.

THE STATUS OF IN-STORE EVENTS AT ALL THIRD EYE LOCATIONS

In compliance with our state’s request, we will be cancelling all of our in-store signing events & in-store play events. This is definitely a hard decision to make, as not only does it hurt the stores in a financial sense, but it also takes away some of the things we have the most fun coordinating.

However, the safety of our customers and our staff is our highest priority, and all of the guidelines so far have made the idea of large gatherings something we’re unable to promote.

We are working hard to come up with ideas on how to make things like release parties, and more still viable, as these are events that do not require prolonged exposure to gatherings, but events involving gatherings and prolonged exposure to others look to be something we are temporarily suspending.

For in-store signings, all cancelled signings will be re-scheduled for later in the year, once we are given the go ahead for PHASE 2 of the re-opening OR once we have figured out ways to make the events work without them being considered a large gathering.

If you have pre-paid for any VIP packages, and do not wish to wait until the event is re-scheduled – please email steve@thirdeyecomics.com and we will get you reimbursed. Please note ALL VIPs will be honored at the re-scheduled date, if you’re OK with hanging onto it until then.

For in-store play events, we will be cancelling all in-store play at Third Eye Games until the state guidelines allow for us to host gatherings again. While this is an impact on the store (nearly 50% of Third Eye Games is event space, which will now go unused), we realize that it’s the responsible and smart thing to do until we’re advised otherwise.

In the meantime, we have repurposed fixtures, and materials, from our other locations to convert the event space into retail space, so that we can hopefully offset the absence of in-store play with other categories until we’re able to resume in-store play.

For sales, release parties, and more, we are working hard to come up with ways that we can still bring you the fun that our store is known for with things like midnight releases of hit comics, and more, while still adhering to and obeying the guidelines of the state.

Our play space will be returning in a new and upgraded format as soon as our state gives us the thumbs up to bring it back!

If you have pre-paid any events, and wish to get a reimbursement instead of waiting for a re-schedule, please email steve@thirdeyecomics.com and we’ll get you taken care of with a reimbursement.

If you’d rather wait until the play space returns and events are re-scheduled, all pre-paid registrations will still be valid.

IN AN AT RISK CATEGORY BUT STILL WANT TO SHOP THIRD EYE?

We realize that some of you may have conditions that make going out to the store a little nervous. We’ve watched what many stores did during the height of the COVID-19 crisis before things began to chill out — and have taken some notes, so we can help you get your daily dose of Third Eye.

  • SCHEDULED SHOPPING APPOINTMENTS PRIOR TO STORE HOURS *Annapolis Only* – You can email steve@thirdeyecomics.com for us to schedule an appointment for you to come visit our store during hours when it’s not open. We’ll send you a calendar of availability, and a brief explanation of how the process works. We know that our shop is a very important place for many of you and we want to do everything in our power to ensure you can experience it how it’s meant to be: in person!
  • CONTACTLESS CURBSIDE PICK-UP *ALL LOCATIONS* – If you know what you’d like in advance, you can call in to your local Third Eye location & set up a curbside order. We’ll also have an option on our online store to order for Curbside Pick-Up as well.
  • $5 FLAT RATE SHIPPING – We are going to continue to offer our $5 flat rate shipping option within the U.S for the duration of the COVID-19 challenge.
  • ZOOM PERSONAL SHOPPING – We’re going to continue to offer our PERSONAL VIRTUAL SHOPPER service, read more about it here.

BATTLE BONDS! PERKS, REWARDS, AND TIMELINES!

In the coming days, we’ll be sending out some emails to all BATTLE BOND buyers to let them know about some new perks we’re adding to their packages, as well as some timelines for some of the reward levels unlocked.

Some of the projects (like the mural on the back of the store, the custom chairs with people’s names on them at Third Eye Games, and more) need production time, so we’ll need to get in touch with you early to get those set up.

You should start seeing your BATTLE BOND emails coming through by 5/23, and then, shortly after, you should be receiving a special surprise in the mail or for pick-up in store ( depending on the option you chose ) depending on your BOND LEVEL, which features some goodies, like your BATTLE BONDS t-shirt, and more!
