2. FETCH – HOW A BAD DOG BROUGHT ME HOME

(W/A/CA) Nicole J. Georges

WHAT’S THE SCOOP: When Nicole Georges was sixteen she adopted Beija, a dysfunctional shar-pei/corgi mix-a troublesome combination of tiny and attack, just like teenaged Nicole herself. For the next fifteen years, Beija would be the one constant in her life. Through depression, relationships gone awry, and an unmoored young adulthood played out against the backdrop of the Portland punk scene, Beija was there, wearing her “Don’t Pet Me” bandana. Georges’s gorgeous graphic novel Fetch chronicles their symbiotic, codependent relationship and probes what it means to care for and be responsible to another living thing, a living thing that occasionally lunges at toddlers. Nicole never successfully taught Beija “sit,” but in the end, Beija taught Nicole how to stay.

3. ON A SUNBEAM

(W/A/CA) Tillie Walden

WHAT’S THE SCOOP: An epic graphic novel about a girl who travels to the ends of the universe to find a long lost love, from acclaimed author Tillie Walden. As Mia, the newest member, gets to know her team, the story flashes back to her pivotal year in boarding school, where she fell in love with a mysterious new student. When Mia grows close to her new friends, she reveals her true purpose for joining their ship-to track down her long-lost love. An inventive world, a breathtaking love story, and stunning art come together in this new work by award-winning artist Tillie Walden. Available in softcover and hardcover editions.

Batwoman must stop Alice from unleashing a toxic death cloud over all of Gotham City-but Alice has more up her sleeve than just poison, and Batwoman’s life will never be the same again.
